Pioneers Ready For Homecoming Week
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic teams celebrate Homecoming this week, with several teams hosting contests over the weekend. Football, volleyball, and men’s and women’s soccer will all be home this weekend, while women’s golf competes at the WIAC Championships.

Men's Soccer Ready for Two Contests
The Pioneers men's soccer team will play a pair of matches this week, starting with a road contest against Loras on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. UW-Platteville then returns home for a 7 p.m. game against Central (Iowa) on Friday night. The team will also celebrate Alumni Day at Friday's contest.
The Duhawks are 6-2-3 on the year with wins in two of the past three games. Across 11 matches, Loras has scored 29 goals while allowing just 10.
Central (Iowa) is 4-4-2 overall and dropped a 3-2 contest to Dubuque on Saturday evening. The Dutch will take on Buena Vista on Wednesday afternoon before heading to UW-Platteville on Friday night.
Women's Soccer to Play Two Conference Games
After opening conference play last weekend with a draw against UW-River Falls, the Pioneers women's soccer team will play three games this week, with a 6 p.m. road match at UW-La Crosse up first on Wednesday. The team then returns home for back-to-back home games, with UW-Eau Claire on Saturday night at 6 p.m. and North Park on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Saturday's game will be Youth Night and the team will honor its seniors on Sunday.
UW-La Crosse is 9-1 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC after a 3-1 win over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. The Eagles are second in the conference with 26 goals on the year and have allowed just five goals across 10 matches.
The Blugolds played UW-Whitewater to a draw in their conference opener and come into the week with a 5-2-3 record. UW-Eau Claire averages 1.4 goals per game and allows 1.0.
North Park is 1-4-4 this season and posted a 0-0 draw against Millikin over the weekend. The Vikings will face Elmhurst on Wednesday evening before heading to Platteville on Sunday.
Volleyball Plays Three Home Matches This Week
The Pioneers volleyball team will welcome UW-River Falls to town on Friday night at 7 p.m. for the annual Yell Night. On Saturday, UW-Platteville hosts a two-court tournament and will face Carthage at 2 p.m. and Millikin at 4 p.m.
The Falcons are 12-4 on the year and 1-1 in conference play after winning 3-2 over UW-Stout last Wednesday. UW-River Falls will host a pair of matches against Augsburg and Gustavus Adolphus before traveling to Platteville on Friday.
Carthage is 10-6 on the year and riding a five-match winning streak. The Firebirds will play Augustana on Wednesday night before heading to Platteville to play UW-River Falls and the Pioneers.
Millikin is 12-6 this season and competed at the UW-Whitewater Invite this past weekend. The Big Blue swept UW-La Crosse but fell 3-0 to UW-Whitewater later in the day. Millikin takes on Illinois Wesleyan on Friday before playing UW-River Falls and UW-Platteville on Saturday.
Football Hosts UW-Stevens Point on Homecoming
After kicking off the conference slate last weekend on the road, the Pioneers football team hosts UW-Stevens Point for the Homecoming game at 1 p.m.
The Pointers are 1-3 overall on the season and 0-1 in the WIAC after losing to UW-Eau Claire 24-17 last weekend. Offensively, UW-Stevens Point averages 16.0 points per game while allowing 39.8 points per game on the defensive side.
Women's Golf Competes at WIAC Championships
The Pioneers women's golf team wraps up its fall schedule at the WIAC Championships this weekend. Starting on Friday, the three-day event will take place at the Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. On Friday, the team will tee off at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start, with the next two days beginning at 8:30 a.m.
