Four Pioneers Athletic Teams In Action This Week

Women's Golf Wraps Up First Spring Invite
The Pioneers golf team heads to day two of the Clarke Invite today at the Galena Golf Club in Galena, Illinois. UW-Platteville is currently in third out of six teams with a score of 344 (+56) after the first round of play. Dubuque is in first at 326 (+38) with Aurora University in second at 336 (+48).
Softball Begins Conference Play Friday
After winning five of six games last week, the Pioneers softball team begins conference play on the road on Friday against UW-Whitewater. Games are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The Warhawks enter the week with a 10-2 record and riding a three-game winning streak. UW-Whitewater will face Rockford on Thursday evening before hosting the Pioneers for the home opener on Friday. Taylor Koehler (.429 batting average) and Maggie Ward (.405) pace the offense while Brooke Hock boasts a perfect ERA and three wins through 16 innings of relief work.
Track Heads to Dubuque for Friday Meet
The Pioneers track and field teams will compete at the Good Friday Open hosted by the University of Dubuque later this week. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with running events from the Douglas J. Miller Track set for noon.
Baseball to Play Four Against UW-Stout this Weekend
With Thursday's non-conference game against UW-Eau Claire cancelled, the Pioneers baseball team will play a pair of WIAC doubleheaders on the road against UW-Stout on Friday and Saturday. Friday's contests are set for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. with Saturday's games at noon and 3 p.m.
The Blue Devils are 8-4 on the season and are currently 1-3 in conference play. UW-Stout last played on March 26 against UW-La Crosse and will have nearly two weeks off before hosting UW-Platteville on Friday. Justin Sedin leads the offense with a conference-leading .500 batting average through 40 at-bats and is tied for second in the WIAC with five home runs.
