Pioneers earn WIAC All-Academic Award while 297 student-athletes named to Scholastic Honor Roll
PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- For the 22nd consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers have received the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) All-Academic Award. The award is presented to member institutions where the 2021-22 academic year grade point average of the student-athletes is equal to or greater than the GPA of the institution’s overall student body.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- For the 22nd consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers have received the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) All-Academic Award. The award is presented to member institutions where the 2021-22 academic year grade point average of the student-athletes is equal to or greater than the GPA of the institution's overall student body.
The Pioneers' 22-year streak is the longest consecutive streak in the conference, and UW-Platteville is the lone WIAC institution to earn the award every year it has been rewarded.
The Pioneer student-athletes had a 3.195 overall GPA for the 2021-22 academic year. All 16 Pioneer varsity teams had a GPA of 3.0 or better. Women's cross country led all teams with a 3.509 GPA, while placing 83.3% of the roster on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Men's soccer achieved a 3.424 GPA to pace the men's teams, while placing 82.4% of the roster on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
The WIAC also honored individual success in the classroom with 297 UW-Platteville student-athletes being named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. To be named to the honor roll a student-athlete must compete in a varsity sport and accumulate a 3.0 or better GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
The 297 Pioneer student-athletes were also named to the university's Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll, named in memory of the late men's basketball player who passed away just weeks after the Pioneers finished undefeated and winning the 1995 NCAA Division III National Championship.
