Pioneers Name Athletes of the Week

CLAIRE BAKKESTEUN -- FIRST BASE -- PITCHER (SO./FOREST LAKE, Minn.)

Bakkesteun finished the week with 5 hits in 11 at-bats. Three of those hits were home runs. Claire had a home run vs Whitewater to tie up the game in the 6^th. The Pioneer firstbaseman had another a home run in each game of the team's Friday doubleheader vs Eau Claire.  The 2^nd 3-run home run came late in the game to secure the win over the Blugolds. Claire finished with week with a .485 batting average and a  1.273 slugging percent. 

JONNY KELSO -- BASEBALL -- CENTERFIELD (JR./VILLA PARK, Ill.)

Kelso hit 12-31 (.387 Avg) in six games this past week including 3 HR, 3 2B, 8 RBI, and 4 stolen bases.

In a doubleheader at UW-Stout on Saturday May 8th, the Villa Park, Ill. native hit home runs in BOTH games including a two-run shot in the second inning of a 17-12 Pioneer victory in Game 2.

Kelso currently leads the WIAC in Hits (62), On-Base Percentage (.545), Runs Scored (48), and stolen bases (24).
