PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced today an extension of its premier corporate partnership with the Platteville A&W. This partnership pioneers an enhanced corporate engagement and strategic partnership model within the UW-Platteville Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. As the Title Sponsor of the National Student-Athlete Luncheon event within the Pioneer Leadership Institute, A&W is committed to supporting and celebrating the holistic success of Pioneer student-athletes.
Since Assistant Chancellor and Athletic Director Dr. Kristina Navarro's arrival in May, the department has undergone a complete restructure coupled with a newly envisioned corporate partnership model. As one of the department's longest standing corporate partners, it was of paramount importance to continue the established relationship with the Platteville A&W.
"Developing strategic partnerships that benefit the student-athlete experience and build relationships across our community has been my central focus since starting in May," said Navarro. "As we looked to enhance our partnership model, feedback and buy-in from our long-standing partners were keys to this vision. Being able to work with A&W in a way that enhances both of our entities communications is a prime example of the win-win partnerships Pioneer Athletics is committed to building."
Navarro continues to steer the department with an intentional focus on three main pillars to forward and demonstrate the value athletics bring to campus along with the importance of the student-athlete experience. The renewed mission includes providing a transformational student-athlete experience, increasing philanthropic and corporate support and fostering a culture of competitive excellence.
"On behalf of our ownership and management team, which includes a couple of Pioneer graduates, Platteville A&W is proud to again be a Premier Partner with UW-Platteville Athletics for 2021," said Michael Wang, General Manager, Platteville A&W. "It is our privilege to support the work that is done in teaching and coaching the student-athletes that represent UW-Platteville, as well supporting the students, coaches, and all other staff members involved in these programs. A&W looks forward to continued ways to be involved with the teams that represent UW-Platteville as well as the Platteville community. We would like to thank Athletic Director Kristina Navarro and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for providing this avenue by which we can try to help impact young people's lives. We look forward to the opportunities this coming year will provide, and hope that this partnership will be one we can continue for years to come."
In addition to providing support for impactful student-athlete programs, this partnership will enhance the communications arm of the department with collaboration on multiple promotional videos and title sponsorship the Pioneers of the Week awards.
"I am excited for the continuation of this partnership as well as the opportunities that A&W's support provide our department," said Lindsay Dietmeier, Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Branding. "Partnerships like this, open doors for new opportunities and creative avenues to showcase our student-athletes, campus and community."
