Pioneers thank those who gave on Pioneers Day of Giving
PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville held its annual Pioneers Day of Giving on Friday, October 9 in celebration of Founders Day. All 16 varsity sports and the athletic department as a whole organized a Pioneers Day of Giving social media campaign. In total, 119 alumni and friends of the Pioneer Athletics Department donated $12,579 in the 24-hour window.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville held its annual Pioneers Day of Giving on Friday, October 9 in celebration of Founder's Day. All 16 varsity sports and the athletic department as a whole organized a Pioneers Day of Giving social media campaign.
In total, 119 alumni and friends of the Pioneer Athletics Department donated $12,579 in the 24-hour window that will directly benefit the student-athletes at UW-Platteville. "Through your gifts we will continue our goal to enhance our culture of competitive excellence," said Director of Athletics and Recreation, Dr. Kristina Navarro. "Thank you to our community members who have helped us to provide a transformational student-athlete experience."
The university as a whole surpassed its goal of 241 donors, one for each of the 241 steps of the world's largest M with 293 total donors. In total the university received $141,514 in donations that will directly support the Pioneer student-body.
October 9 marked UW-Platteville's 154 year as an institution.
