Pioneers announce Petey Award winners
Platteville, Wis.- The annual Petey Awards banquet is an exciting time for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic Department. It is an end of the year celebration to honor the Pioneer student-athletes’ hard work and commitment. Due to COVID-19, the Petey Awards banquet was canceled and replaced by an online show to recognize the department’s major award winners.

Due to COVID-19, the Petey Awards banquet was canceled and replaced by an online show to recognize the department's major award winners.
The following student-athletes were honored during the online award show.
Athletes of the Year:
Johanna Meister- (Darlington, Wisconsin) Women's Cross Country/Track and Field
Meister placed second at the WIAC Indoor Championship in the 800 meter and mile runs, USTFCCCA NCAA DIII Midwest All-Region for the 800m and mile run, ran fifth fastest 800M in Pioneer history (2:14.85), qualified for the 2020 NCAA National Indoor meet in the 800M, scored 17 of the teams 36 points at the WIAC Indoor Track championship.
Noah Steiner- (Monticello, Iowa) Men's Track and Field
Steiner holds the UW-Platteville school record for indoor (6'10 ¼") and outdoor high jump (6'10 ¾), three-time NCAA Indoor National Qualifier, two time NCAA Outdoor National Qualifier, NCAA All-American both indoor and outdoor (2019), WIAC Indoor high jump champion (2020), 2020 WIAC Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Carter Voelker- (Kiel, Wisconsin) Men's Basketball
Voelker was a three-year starter for the Pioneers, member of three NCAA DIII Tournament teams, 2020 D3hoops.com All-American, 2020 WIAC Player of the Year, 2020 First Team All-District, 2020 First Team All-Central Region, four-time WIAC Athlete of the week, member of the Pioneer 1,000 career point club.

NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee:
Johanna Meister- (Darlington, Wisconsin) Women's Cross Country/Track and Field.
Meister will be UW-Platteville's nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year. The NCAA woman of the year program is in its 29th year and each college or university selects one nominee for state-wide and national awards. Recipients are honored for being exceptional in four categories: Athletics, Academics, Service and Leadership.
Meister is a mechanical engineering major holding a 3.874 cumulative grade point average, she competed in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field. She is a two-time WIAC 2nd team All-Conference selection, two-time NCAA National Cross-Country Meet qualifier, two-time captain and team MVP. She is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, two-time Chancellor's List member, the 2018-19 UW-Platteville Scholar Athlete of the year and 2020 WIAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete.
Patricia Doyle Female Scholar Athlete:
Taylor Martin- (Brooklyn, Wisconsin) Women's Soccer
Martin is an environmental engineering major, she has been named to the Dean's List seven times, Gabe Miller Academic Honor Roll three times, and is the Vice President of Engineers without Borders and a Women in EMS mentor. She has appeared in 73 games, starting 53, scoring seven career goals and assisting five times. Martin has been hired by Foth as a civil engineer.
Rachel Emendorfer (Platteville, Wisconsin) Women's Basketball
Emendorfer is a double major, majoring in health and human performance and psychology. She was named to the WIAC scholastic honor roll all four years, named to the Dean's and Chancellor's list multiple times. She is a two-time team captain and defensive MVP. Emendorfer was the presenter at the Tri-State Psychology Convention and the Student-Athlete Speaker at the UW-Platteville Hall of Fame Banquet in 2019.

Male Scholar Athlete:
Drew Rakers- (Elm Grove, Wisconsin) Football
Rakers was named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, a CoSIDA Academic All-American, Academic All-District and the WIAC Max Sparger Scholar Athlete for Football. Rakers was a two-time 2nd team All-WIAC Special Team honoree, a two-year team MVP.
