Pioneers name athletes of the week, Grams earns WIAC Kwik Trip honors

Hunter Grams, Sophomore (Dane, Wis./Lodi) - Punter - Football - Special Teams Grams came up huge for the Pioneers in his first career game. Grams averaged 42 yards net yards on his punts and had a long of 52 yards. Grams pinned East Texas inside the 20-yard line on two of his three punts. *Grams was also named WIAC Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week

Markie Ash, Sophomore (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) - Golf Ash finished 4th overall at the UW-LaCrosse/Viterbo Invitational. She shot a pair of 85's at LaCrosse Country Club and The Golf Club at Cedar Creek and helped her team finish in first place. |

Macie Alexa, Sophomore (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) - Midfielder - Women's Soccer - Defense Playing all 90 minutes in each match, Alexa anchored a defense that helped UW-Platteville post a 0-1-1 record during the weekend. The Pioneers allowed just one goal in their two matches. Alexa split her time between center defense and holding mid. During the Pioneers 1-0 loss against Central (IA), Alexa was tasked with marking Central's biggest offensive threat and held her to just 2 shots on goal. |

Katie Jones, Senior (Delavan, Wis./Delavan-Darien) - Middle Blocker - Volleyball - Offense Jones hit .500 in the team's only match, a 3-0 win over Loras on Tuesday, September 3rd. Jones had seven kills (2.33 per set) on just 12 total attacks and limited herself to one error in the match.

Stephanie Kalinowski, Freshman (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) – Libero - Volleyball - Defense Kalinowski totaled 18 digs (six per set) in the team's only match, a 3-0 win over Loras on Tuesday, September 3rd. Kalinowski chipped in one kill and one assist. |

Cayden Carlson, Freshman (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) - Midfield/Forward - Men's Soccer - Offense Carlson started in all three of the team's first four games in a 2-1-1 start for the Pioneers. Carlson has created many offensive chances all season and has two goals (both game winning goals). One game winning goal came on September 1st in the 4-0 win over Fontbonne and the other was in the 5-1 win over Bethel (Minn.) on September 8th.

Nate Miller, Senior (Racine, Wis./Park) – Goalkeeper - Men's Soccer - Defense Miller has had 18 saves with a save percentage of .818 in the Pioneers' first four games. Miller recorded a shutout against Fontbonne on September 1st and has had several big saves on the season including one PK save. |

Donald Allender, Junior (Youngstown, N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) – Wide Receiver - Football - Offense Allender led the Pioneers in receiving with 4 receptions, 117 Yards and one receiving touchdown. Allender would also get involved in the running game. He finished with 35 yards on 4 carries with a rushing TD. Donald also had the game ending carry when he reversed field to pick up a third and long with a minute left to seal the victory. Pioneers would win 38-30 over East Texas Baptist University. |

Walter Ollie, Senior (Pearl City, Ill./Pearl City) - Safety - Football - Defense Ollie led the Pioneers in many ways in Saturdays win over East Texas Baptist. Ollie led all Tacklers with 11 solo tackles and one assist for 12 total tackles. He also recorded a forced fumble strip and a fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter as East Texas was driving to tie the game. Ollie was also huge in the return game pitching in 154 yards between punt and kick return to set the Pioneers up with good field position all day. |
