Pioneers name athletes of the week

Abby Burns, Sophomore (Morris, Ill./Morris) - Pitcher Burns went 2-1 for the week with an ERA of 4.70 in wins over UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls before falling to UW-La Crosse. Burns earned the win over UW-Whitewater on April 24, allowing one earned run in 2.1 innings of relief. On April 26, Burns pitched six shutout innings to beat UW-River Falls. On April 28, Burns took the loss against UW-La Crosse and pitched five innings and allowing five earned runs. |

Rachel Martin, Senior (Naperville, Ill./North) - First Base Martin hit .473 (9-of-19) with two homeruns, eight RBI and two walks in the Pioneers' six games on the week. On April 24, Martin went 2-of-3 with a homerun and three RBI in the 13-9 victory over UW-Whitewater. Martin went 1-of-3 in the April 24 loss to UW-Whitewater. Martin hit a walk off three-run homerun to seal the 6-5 win against UW-River Falls on April 26. Martin went 3-of-4 with five RBI. Martin went 1-of-3 in the 3-0 win in the second game of the UW-River Falls double header. Martin went 1-of-3 in both games against UW-La Crosse on April 28 including a 5-2 win and a 4-5 loss. |

Kaley Mumma, Sophomore (Byron, Ill./Byron) - Golf Mumma shot a personal best score of 78 at the Augustana Invitational over the weekend. Mumma placed fifth out of 75 golfers. |

Brittany Ehlen, Senior (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) - Pole Vault Ehlen competed in the pole vault competition at the Drake Relays this past weekend. Competing against DI & DII competition Brittany finished 12th among a field of 25 competitors. Her height of 3.60 meters (11' 9.75") is a season best bar and currently ranks #4 on the WIAC Honor Roll. |

Charlie Gifford, Junior (Menasha, Wis./Menasha) – 110 Hurdles Gifford ran a personal best time of 14.43 at the Drake Relays this past week. That time currently ranks #1 in the WIAC and #7 on the NCAA National Qualifying List. |

Jonathan Kelso, Sophomore (Villa Park, Ill./Willowbrook) – Center Field Kelso hit .500 (9-of-18) with three doubles, five RBI, three stolen bases and seven runs scored in the Pioneers 4-2 week. Kelso went 1-of-2 and 0-of-3 to start the week in the losses to UW-Whitewater on April 23 but heated up over the weekend. Kelso went 4-of-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in the 11-2 win to start the Finlandia tripleheader on April 26. Kelso went 3-of-4 with a double, two stolen bases and a run scored in the second game, an 11-3 win. Kelso went 0-of-1 but scored two runs in the 5-3 win to wrap up April 26. Kelso finished the week going 1-of-4 with a double, one RBI and a run scored in the 16-3 win on April 28. |
