Pioneers name athletes of the week

Ashton Hoeppner, Sophomore (Winona, Minn./Senior) Hoeppner made three starts on the week and allowed just one earned run in 10.1 innings. Hoeppner earned two wins but the Pioneers won all three of her starts. Hoeppner pitched 1.1 innings allowing one earned run in the March 19 7-5 win over Texas-Dallas. On March 20, Hoeppner pitched 4.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts in the 12-1 win over MacMurray. On March 21, Hoeppner had 5.0 shutout innings with six strikeouts in the 10-0 win over Augsburg. |

Chaela West, Freshman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) – Second Base West hit .563 to lead the Pioneers to a 5-1 week in Tucson, AZ. On March 19, West went 1-of-2 with an RBI in the 7-5 win over Texas-Dallas and 1-of-2 with an RBI in the 5-2 loss to Buena Vista. On March 20, West went 3-of-4 with an two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in the 12-1 win over MacMurray and went 1-of-3 with two runs scored in the 6-1 win over Edgewood. On March 21, West went 1-of-2 with two RBI in the 10-0 win over Augsburg and finished by going 2-of-3 with two RBI in the 5-4 win over Huntington. |

Jonathan Kelso, Sophomore (Villa Park, Ill./Willowbrook) – Centerfielder Kelso hit .555 (10-of-18) and led the Pioneers to a 2-2 record in their four games in Texas this week. Kelso went 3-of-6 with two runs scored in the 10-12 win over LeTourneau on March 18. In two losses against Texas-Tyler on March 19 & 20, Kelso went 3-of-7 with two runs scored, a double and a stolen base. In their 15-6 win over Southwestern on March 21, Kelso went 4-of-5 with four stolen bases, three RBI and two runs scored.
