Pioneers name athletes of the week

Women's Cross Country - Brenna Kautz, Sophomore (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington)

Kautz contributed to the UW-Platteville Women's Cross Country team's 1st place finish on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Tom Hoffman Invitational. Kautz finished in 9th place overall in the 6,000m race with a time of 26:29.

Men's Cross Country - Nolan Wallenkamp, Senior (Hubertus, Wis./Hartford)

Wallenkamp contributed to the UW-Platteville Women's Cross Country team's 1st place finish on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Tom Hoffman Invitational. Wallenkamp finished in 4th place overall in the 8,000m race with a time of 27:44.

Men's Soccer - Offense - Nick Hoklas, Senior (Crytstal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) - Midfield

Hoklas played almost every position for the Pioneers this week.  Hoklas scored the go ahead goal vs Aurora on Friday night on a perfectly placed free kick. Hoklas was the most prolific attacker on Sunday vs Simpson where he was dangerous throughout the game.

Men's Soccer - Defense - Tommy Bitter, Senior (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) - Defense

Bitter was the rock that anchored the defense that played strong all weekend long. The defense only gave up one goal in the team's 2-1 win over Aurora and had a shutout in the 0-0 tie to Simpson.

Women's Soccer - Defense - Kathryn Flaherty, Sophomore (Albert Lea, Min./Albert Lea) - Goalkeeper

Flaherty put together two shutouts this week to help the UW-Platteville women's soccer team finish with a 2-0 week. Flaherty had four saves in the match against Buena Vista on Saturday.

Women's Soccer - Offense - Caelyn Steffens, Freshman (Normal, Ill./Normal Community)

Steffens led the attack for UW-Platteville's victories this week against Alverno and Buena Vista. Steffens had five goals and two assists in the two matches. Against Alverno, Steffens had two goals and two assists. Against Buena Vista, Steffens recorded her second career hat trick.
