Pioneers name athletes of the week, Ramos and Babich earn WIAC honors

Volleyball - Offense - Olivia Kudronowicz, Freshman (Muskego, Wisconsin) - Outside Hitter Kudronowicz led the way offensively for UW-Platteville in the team's first four matches of the season. In the four matches, Kudronowicz compiled 57 kills (3.17/set), .203 hitting percentage, 46 digs (2.56/set) and 11 service aces. Against Coe College, Kudronowicz had 18 kills on 37 attempts and finished with a hitting percentage of .324. Kudronowicz tallied a double-double against Franklin College with 19 kills and 23 digs in 5-set win after losing the first two sets. Kudronowicz had seven service aces against Minnesota-Morris to finish the weekend. |

Volleyball - Defense - Madie Sailors, Sophomore (Brookston, Indiana) - Libero Sailors led the Pioneers defensively in their four matches with 66 digs (3.67/set) and eight service aces. In both 5-set wins against Coe College and Franklin College, Sailors racked up 20+ digs and add three service aces. Sailors set a new career high with 21 digs against Franklin.

Football - Special Teams - Antonio-Jose Ramos*, Junior (Hartland, Wisconsin) - Safety Ramos recovered two blocked punts in the third quarter against East Texas Baptist University, Thursday night August 30th. Ramos recovered the first blocked punt at the ETBU 30 yardline for the Pioneers to move on to score after the turnover. Ramos went on to block and recover a second punt and return 21 yards for a Pioneer touchdown. Ramos' recoveries and return for a touchdown were an integral part of the Pioneers's 42 point second half rally. *Also named the WIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week |

Football- Offense - Bo Babich*, Sophomore (Appleton, Wisconsin) - Running Back Babich rushed for 106 yards on 17 rushing attempts with four rushing touchdowns against East Texas Baptist University, Thursday night August 30th. – Babich was integral in the Pioneer's 42 point rally in the second half. His long run came on a 50-yard run burst in the fourth quarter to secure a two score lead. Babich accumulated half of the Pioneers touchdowns in the Thursday night rally with three of the four touchdowns coming in the second half. *Also named the WIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week |

Football - Defense - Ben Mogilevsky, Senior (Madison, Wisconsin) - Safety Mogilevsky accumulated four solo tackles and one interception against East Texas Baptist University, Thursday night August 30th. Mogilevsky played great coverage in the secondary the entire night on receivers. Mogilevsky recorded a recovered blocked punt for a turnover in the first half of competition. The Pioneers were able to capitalize and score on Mogilevsky's third quarter interception which in return gave the Pioneers the first lead of the game after recovering from an ETBU 20 point advantage in the first half.

Women's Soccer - Offense - Amber Lueder, Sophomore (Baraboo, WI) - Forward Lueder led the attack for UW-Platteville's victory in their first game of the season this week. She recorded two goals, including the game winner, and one assist in UW-Platteville's 4-3 OT win over Ripon College on Aug. 31st. Lueder totaled 5 shots in the game and starts the season off with 5 points.

Men's Soccer- Offense - Logan Rinderknecht, Senior (Cedar Rapids, IA) - Forward Rinderknecht scored two goals on three shots to lead UW-Platteville to a 3-0 victory in their season opener against Central College. It was a fast start to the season as both of Rinderknecht's goals came in the first 17 minutes of play.

Men's Soccer Defense - Nate Miller, Junior (Racine, WI) - Goalkeeper Miller saved all four shots on goal by Central College in the season opener. Miller's efforts led to the team's first shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory. |
