Five Pioneer wrestlers earn trip to DIII National Championship

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team competed at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday, Feb. 27 hosted by Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, finishing third overall as a team and sending five Pioneers through to the NCAA Division III National Championships.

A number of Division I teams throughout the Midwest sent wrestlers to compete, including the University of Iowa, UW-Madison, Purdue University, the University of Northern Iowa and Northern Illinois University.

Wrestlers earn three titles at home opener

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneer wrestling team earned three first place victories on Saturday at the Super 8 Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The meet marked the first official meet of the year for the Pioneers and hosted teams including Truman State University, Augustana College, Loras College, Central College, Manchester University and Hannibal-LaGrange University.

Renon completes 20-mile Ruck March for charity

In an effort to raise money and awareness for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Assistant Wrestling Coach Ryan Renon completed a 20-mile Ruck March on Sept. 27. He is a long time member of the Army National Guard and raised approximately $400 on the day. He answered a few questions on why he chose to take on this charitable cause.
