Second home meet success over Muskies
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneer wrestling team dominated the Lakeland College Muskies 33-9 on Thursday evening at Bo Ryan Court. The Pioneers won eight out of the 10 regular matches and swept both exhibitions competitions.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneer wrestling team dominated the Lakeland College Muskies 33-9 on Thursday evening at Bo Ryan Court. The Pioneers won eight out of the 10 regular matches and swept both exhibitions competitions.
Jeremy Peterson and Kody Azarian began the night for the Pioneers wrestling in the exhibition matches and established the Pioneers' dominance over the Muskies. Peterson won via a 4-2 decision and Azarian won through a technical fall 16-1 at the 2:43 mark.
Freshman 141-pounder Scott Arneson took the 6-3 decision over the Lakeland opponent and 149-pound Kyle Benjamin followed up with a 8-0 major decision win. 174-pound freshman Jon Goetz was the first of six straight wins for the Pioneers with a 6-2 decision victory. Grant Wedepohl won the 184-pound match via a 5-2 decision. Senior captain Bryant Etherton pinned his 197-pound opponent at the 4:36 mark, while D'Andre Johnson won the 285-pound match with a 13-4 major decision. In his 2015 senior debut Cole Ferguson took the major decision over his Muskie opponent 11-0. Azarian finished off the night with his second win on the evening in the 133-pound bracket.
The meet was the Pioneers' second of the season and both took place in Bo Ryan Court. Next Wednesday the team will head over the bridge to take on the cross-river rival Dubuque University Spartans at 7 p.m.
