Pioneer wrestlers fall to Blugolds 32-12 at home
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team fell to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds 32-12 on Thursday at Williams Fieldhouse.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team fell to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds 32-12 on Thursday at Williams Fieldhouse.
Three Pioneers were victorious in their respective weight classes, including sophomore Michael Belanger, freshman Grant Wedepohl and senior Bryant Etherton.
In the 165-weight class, Belanger gained three points for the Pioneers with a 7-1 decision win over Eau Claire's Behnke.
Wedepohl's big 184-weight class win earned him six points, pinning his Blugold opponent late in the second round, earning his 18th win of the season.
When it came time for the 197-weight class, Etherton won in an 8-4 decision to give the Pioneers another three points, but the Blugolds prevailed and took the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Feb. 14 at the WIAC Championships at UW-Stevens Point at 9 a.m.
