Pioneer grapplers defeat Titans 32-11
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team defeated the UW-Oshkosh Titans 32-11 on Friday at Williams Fieldhouse.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team defeated the UW-Oshkosh Titans 32-11 on Friday at Williams Fieldhouse.
Seven of ten Pioneer wrestlers came out on top in their respective weight classes, including junior Zach Stenger, senior Cole Ferguson, freshman Scott Ameson, senior Gunnar Melstrand, sophomore Cody Meyer, senior Bryant Etherton and freshman D'Andre Johnson.
In the 125 and 133-weight classes, Stenger won by a forfeit and Ferguson dominated in a 7-0 decision, respectively.
When it was time for the 141-weight class, Ameson defeated UW-Oshkosh's Levi Smith 4-2 in three hard fought rounds.
Both Melstrand and Meyer dominated the mat with major decision wins over their opponents in the 165 and 184 weight classes.
As for Etherton's 197-weight class, it didn't last long. He pinned his opponent at the 1:57 mark of the first round, earning six points for the Pioneers.
Towards the end of the second round in Johnson's heavyweight match, he pinned the Titan competitor and added another six to the Pioneers' 32-11 win.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Pat Flanagan Open at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa at 9 a.m.
