WAVERLY, Iowa - Two Pioneers advanced to finals during Friday's preliminaries.
Dan Arnold ran the 110m Hurdle preliminaries in 14.22 to win his heat and automatically advance to Saturday's finals. Arnold goes into the finals with the fastest time of the season having run 13.91.
Wyatt Thompson just missed the school record during the preliminary round of the 400m. Thompson ran 47.74, two hundreths of a second from the school record. Thompson was the final qualifier into finals which will also be contested Saturday.
Kyle Whaley competed in the shot put with a best legal throw of 46-10.75 (14.29m).
Competition concludes Saturday with Amber Williams competing in the triple jump, Arnold in the 110m Hurdle finals, Thompson in the 400m finals and Ian LaMere in the 5,000m finals.
