Ways to Give
Gifts of Cash

Multi-Year Pledge
a. Primarily seen in corporate partnerships, the athletic department works with many donors who wish to establish a multi-year pledges payment plan.
b. Often, this method of giving enables donors to contribute more generously than they may have considered by spreading the gift payments over a period of years.

Matching Gift Programs
a. A Matching Gift Program is a wonderful way to increase the impact of your support.
b. Have the donor contact their employers Human Resources Office and ask if the company matches employee donations to non-profit organizations and how they may participate.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities
a. Many people find the best way to make charitable gifts is in the form of marketable securities, such as stocks or mutual fund shares that have appreciated in value.
b. Securities owned longer than one year qualify as long-term property and once donated to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization are entitled to a federal income tax itemized deduction, based on the current fair market value of the security, regardless of what it originally cost.

Gift-In-Kind
a. A gift-in-kind is considered to be an attractive option for some donors. Examples are team meals, clothes, snacks to the program, transportation.

Planned Gifts
a. Planned gifts are gift arrangements that may have specific tax advantages for the donor and/or family members.
b. Some of the options used by donors when naming a charitable organization as the beneficiary include bequests, gifts of life insurance, and many of the varied types of trust currently available.
