Career Best Times Highlight Finish at Oshkosh Open
The UW-Platteville Cross Country teams competed at the Oshkosh Open Friday. The Pioneer men just missed the win finishing second with 29 points, 3 points behind UW-Stevens Point’s 26 points. Five total teams competed on the men’s side.
WINNECONE, Wis. – The UW-Platteville Cross Country teams competed at the Oshkosh Open Friday. The Pioneer men just missed the win finishing second with 29 points, 3 points behind UW-Stevens Point's 26 points. Five total teams competed on the men's side.
Finishing in third place as the top collegiate finisher was TJ Pitcock in a time of 26:47. Freshman Adam Caruso followed close behind in fifth with a time of 26:54. Rounding out the top five for the Pioneers where Zach Klokow (10th/27:20), Tim Knobloch (12th/27:30), and Mason Geary (14th/27:32). Also competing for the Pioneers where Tanner Reinholtz (18th/27:46), Nolan Wallenkamp (20th/27:53), Alex Clark (27th/28:13), Brett Gillingham (33rd/28:25), Lars Hay (35th/28:40), Devin Johnson (28:43), Evan Krug (40th/29:01), Cory Flood (42nd/29:12), and Andrew Smith (44th/29:33). Eight out of 14 Pioneers ran career best times with one tying his best.
Six women competed for the Pioneers with four running career best times. Janelle Ferguson finished third in 25:39. Not far behind Mariah Brown crossed in 26:11 to finish eighth. Danielle Nelson finished 18th with a time of 27:17 and Haley Daniels finished 29th in 28:25. Anna O'Hern crossed in 28:52 to finish 32nd and Erin Heaster crossed in 31:10 for 38th place.
The Pioneers compete next Saturday at the WIAC Championships hosted by UW-Steven's Point.
