Pioneers open season at Tom Hoffman Invite
The UW-Platteville Cross Country teams opened the season at the Tom Hoffman Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater. The season opener was treated partly as a training race with the Pioneer runners running in pairs. The decision by coach Antczak proved to be a good choice as race temperatures where higher than what the Pioneers had seen during training.

The women opened competition and were led by Anna Drazkowski and Chelsey Heiden. The pair finished the 6K course in 27:06. The pair of Mariah Brown and Hannah Ihlenfeldt were next crossing the finish in 28:07. Caitlyn Ifft and Danielle Nelson crossed together in 30:35. As a team the women finished 9th out of 12 teams with 230 points. UW-La Crosse won the team competition with a perfect 15 points.
The men's team was led by Zach Klokow and Zach Lee finishing in 28:51 and 28:52 respectively. Cory Flood and Tanner Reinholtz followed closely in 28:54 and Logan Steinhoff and Mitchell Frager were next in 28:56. The men's team scored 148 points for 5th place out of 12th. UW-La Crosse won the men's race with 18 points.
The Pioneers will be back in full force on Friday competing at Augustana College.
