Kocak finishes third at UW-Oshkosh Open
The UW-Platteville men's cross country team and a few members of the women's cross country team competed at the Oshkosh Open on Friday afternoon at the Lake Breeze Golf Course.
WINNECONNE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's cross country team and a few members of the women's cross country team competed at the Oshkosh Open on Friday afternoon at the Lake Breeze Golf Course.
The men's team scored 49 points while UW-Stevens Point won the meet with 24 points. Individually, Matt Kocak led the Pioneers with a third-place finish with a time of 27:20. Ethan Shanks finished the 8,000-meter race in a time of 27:39, good for seventh-place. Dan LaCroix crossed the finish line at the 27:47 mark for 10th place. Mitchell Frager finished in 13th with a time of 28:10, while Benjamin Rhode rounded out the Pioneers top-five with a time of 28:23.
Danielle Kunkel was the Pioneers' top individual, finishing in 15th-place with a field filled with NCAA Division I UW-Madison competitors. Kunkel was just 11 seconds behind the last Badger runner with a time of 23:16.03. Freshman Jennifer Bajorek finished the 6,000-meter race in a time of 25:58.12. Fellow freshman Danielle Johnson posted a time of 27:45.46 while Caitlyn Chiaverotti clocked a time of 27:52.05.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the WIAC Championships in River Falls, Wis. UW-River Falls will host the conference meet at the Kilkarney Golf Course.
