Cross Country runs at Drews/Neubauer Invite
The UW-Platteville men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational at Maple Grove Country Club, hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
WEST SALEM, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational at Maple Grove Country Club, hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
The men's team finished 13th out of 30 teams with 370 points, while St. Olaf dominated the meet with 41 points. Individually, junior Sam Poser led the Pioneers finishing in 29th-place with a time of 25:44.5. Fellow junior Joel Walden scored 40 points and finished in 60th-place out of 496 runners with a time of 26:00.0. Junior Matt Smaga scored 49 points with a time of 26:17.1. Junior Evan Morgan crossed the finish line with a time of 27:51.4, while Michael Peterson rounded out the Pioneers' top five with a time of 27:51.4.
On the women's side, the Pioneers finished in 20th out of 30 teams, while Wartburg won the meet with a total of 81 points. Individually, sophomore Kiera Depies led the Pioneers, finishing in 41st-place with a time of 23:13.2. Freshman Chelsey Heiden scored 87 points with a time of 23:53.0, while junior Meleana Bennin crossed the finish line at the 25:01.1 mark. Sophomore Kristine Amundson was right behind Bennin with a time 25:06.3. To round out the Pioneers' top-five, sophomore Ashlynne Wampfler crossed the finish line with a time of 25:12.3.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Oshkosh Open in Winneconne, Wis. at the Lake Breeze Golf Course.
