Kunkel breaks Alumni Meet record
Danielle Kunkel set a new women’s meet record for the UW-Platteville Alumni Open, posting a time of 14:35, to break the former record by an astounding 37 seconds.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.-- Danielle Kunkel set a new women's meet record for the UW-Platteville Alumni Open, posting a time of 14:35, to break the former record by an astounding 37 seconds.
The meet, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, featured current and former Pioneer runners.
Kunkel was joined at the top of the women's leaders by alumna Shea Bierman, who finished the race in 16:15, Kiera Depies (17:08), alumna Marcia Taddy (17:20) and Kristine Amundson (17:26).
The men were led by alumnus Tyler Sigl, recording a 21:45. Joel Walden and Dan LaCroix finished second and third, posting times of 22:44 and 22:55, respectively. Alumnus Jason Garvens finished fourth with a time of 23:01, and Matt Smaga finished fifth, crossing the finish line in 23:02.
The Alumni Open served as a warm-up meet for the Pioneers before they head to Whitewater on Saturday to run in the Warhawk Invite, the first meet of the team's schedule.
