Carlson Earns All-America Honorable Mention Honors
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Emma Carlson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team was named a 2023 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DIII All-America Honorable Mention it was announced on Wednesday.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Emma Carlson of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team was named a 2023 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DIII All-America Honorable Mention it was announced on Wednesday.
Carlson, who was recently named First Team All-Region and All-WIAC over the past couple weeks, becomes the first Pioneers volleyball student-athlete to earn All-American honors since 2013.
Her impressive junior season saw her surpass 1,000 career kills while finishing ninth in the NCAA and second in the WIAC in total kills with 450. The Dixon, Illinois native averaged 4.17 kills per set on a .243 hitting percentage while placing third in the conference with 44 service aces. Carlson added 2.38 digs per set, good for third on the team, along with 15 double-doubles. The two-time WIAC Offensive Player of the Week recorded double-digit kills in 26 of 29 matches, including a career-high 29 in a four-set win over Augustana (Ill.) on September 16. That total is the third-most in a single match in program history.
