Pioneers Pick Up Fourth Straight Sweep Over Eagles
MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (14-4) tallied its fourth straight sweep with a 3-0 road victory over the Edgewood Eagles (6-7) on Tuesday night.

With the opening set tied at seven, the Pioneers scored seven straight points to take a 14-7 lead. The Edgewood was able to get back within three, but UW-Platteville closed the set with a 6-1 run to win 25-17.
The Pioneers raced out to a large lead again in the second set behind a 12-5 run. The Eagles closed the gap to four points late in the set, before a kill from sophomore Emma Carlson and an Edgewood attack error allowed UW-Platteville to win 25-19.
In the third set, the Pioneers had an advantage early before a late Eagles rally tied the set at 22. Edgewood took a one-point lead but kills from junior Claudia Johnson and Carlson helped the Pioneers put away the Eagles 25-23.
Carlson posted a team-high 10 kills on a .088 hitting percentage. Johnson and junior Camryn Johnston tied for second on the team with six kills apiece. Freshman Bri Gartner posted a team-high 13 digs while senior Sam Rossetti recorded 11 digs and 22 assists. Johnson posted six block assists in the match, as the Pioneer totaled 18 blocks as a team. UW-Platteville finished with nine service aces, led by four from Carlson.
The Pioneers will travel to UW-Stout on Friday night for the third WIAC matchup of the season. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
