UW-Platteville Loses in Four to UW-Stevens Point in WIAC Tournament Semifinal
Despite 16 kills from senior Briana
Kaiser, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team
dropped a 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17 decision to UW-Stevens Point
in the WIAC semifinals on Friday night in Stevens Point,
Wisconsin.
The Pioneers (21-14) were held to a .115 hitting percentage in the
loss; whereas the Pointers hit .225 in the win. UW-Platteville had
five service aces and senior setter Ali Sikic had 47 assists.
The Pointers (26-6), who are the No. 1 seed, had two players -
Christina Brinkman and Morgan Bartkowiak - with 16 and 10 kills,
respectively to lead UW-Stevens Point to its first berth in the
WIAC Tournament finals in program history.
A key factor in the win for UW-Stevens Point was its frontline
play as they recorded 12 blocks, including eight block assists from
Bartkowiak. Five different players had a hand in a block for the
Pointers.
The loss sends the Pioneers to the third-place match on Saturday
where they will face UW-Eau Claire, who dropped a five-set decision
to UW-Whitewater in the other semifinal.
