PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team won a 1-0 decision over Dubuque on Wednesday at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
"I'm proud of the girls for their effort tonight, they were ready to go from the first minute of the game and never let up the entire 90 minutes," said head coach Allison Stringer. "We made a few adjustments at halftime and the girls responded well, and came out putting one away."
The Pioneers have now shutout their last three opponents, improving to 7-6-1 on the year.
With a scoreless game at halftime the Pioneers out shot UD 4-2, while the Spartans had a 2-0 corner kick advantage.
In the 78th-mintute, senior Corey Daehling managed to break away from the UD defenders to blast a 30-yard goal over a outreached Spartan goalkeeper.
Freshman Mandy Taylor made three big saves in the second half to complete the shutout.
The Pioneers return to conference action on Saturday when they travel to UW-Eau Claire at 1 p.m.
