Strasser records the hat trick as Pioneers defeat Viterbo 3-1.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team defeated the Viterbo V-Hawks 3-1 on Wednesday night at Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers (5-11, 1-6, WIAC) lead the majority of the first half with a shot from Anna Strasser five minutes into the game. Strasser shot from the 30 yard line and the V-Hawks goalie Ashley Hicks had a hand on the ball, but it bounced in regardless.
With 15 minutes left in the first half the V-Hawks' (13-2-1) Selena Gardiunio made the second shot of the night with a break away past the defense and then crossing the ball into the back left corner of the goal.
In the second half Strasser had her second shot of the night by shooting from the 10-yard line. The Pioneers kept up their intensity allowing Strasser her third goal of the night at with less than four minutes left on the clock.
The hat trick guaranteed a solid win for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers' defense brought their game and held off the V-Hawks for the majority of the game. Recovering from Monday's loss, the Pioneer women played their best in honor of Suicide Awareness Night.
