Pioneers falls to UW-Oshkosh 4-1
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers women's soccer team lost to the UW-Oshkosh on Monday night at Pioneer Stadium.
The Titans (10-4-3, 3-2-2 WIAC) lead in the first half by controlling the ball and making two shots within the last five minutes of the first half. With five minutes left the Titans' junior Chelsea Kierszh shot the first of two goals into the back right corner across the field.
With 15 seconds in the half, Titans' sophomore, Kaitlin Kapitan, made the second goal of the game, again into the back right corner of the goal.
The UW-Platteville Pioneers' (4-11, 1-6 WIAC) Cassie Blatz played her second game in goal, with three saves in the first half. The Titans' defense kept the Pioneers at bay, allowing zero shots on goal in the first half.
In the second half, the Titans picked it up by adding two more goals. Chelsea Kierszh made her second goal of the night unassisted in the first ten minutes. The second shot was made by Carly Roiniotis assisted by Nicole Strieker.
The Pioneers' Melissa Dunlavy made the first goal for UW-Platteville in the last ten minutes of the game with a header into the bottom left of the goal, assisted by Sarah Eck off a free kick.
Overall, Blazt had six saves for the Pioneers. The Titans had 10 shots on goal for the evening, and only allowing four shots and three on goal from the Pioneers.
The Pioneers return to the field on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they host non-conference Viterbo.
