Pioneers place 18th at Wheaton Invite and compete at Duhawk Open
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team placed 18th at the Pete Wilson Wheaton Invitational while other members of the wrestling team went to Loras College over the weekend for the Duhawk Open.
WHEATON, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team placed 18th at the Pete Wilson Wheaton Invitational, scoring 43.5 points. The Pioneers were able to place a third place finisher and a fourth place finisher.
Scott Arneson placed 4th at 133, while Jon Goetz earned 3rd place at 174. Zach Stenger (125) and Issac Brosinski (165), and Cody Meyer (197) won their opening matches and advanced through the tournament, while Carter Barkem (149), Trevor Harsh (157) picked up wins over the weekend.
The Pioneers return to WIAC matches and will head to Eau Claire on the 2nd of Feburary at 7pm.
DUBUQUE, Ia. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team went to Loras College over the weekend for the Duhawk Open.
Grady Todd (149) was able to pick up a technical fall in the second consolation round (17-1), while Jeremey Peterson (149) was able to beat Todd (9-6) in the third consolation round. Dustin Reynolds (157) also collected a technical fall (19-1). Tyler Denmark (157) earned a major decision (13-4) in the second consolation round.
Nicholas Retzlaff pinned his first round opponent and defeated his second round opponent (10-2). He earned the Pioneers 5 points.
The Pioneers return to WIAC matches and will head to Eau Claire on the 2nd of Feburary at 7pm.
