#11 Pioneers fall to #5 UW-La Crosse
The UW-Platteville wrestling team, ranked 11th in NCAA Divison III, suffered its first loss of the season, a 25-9 setback to fifth-ranked UW-La Crosse in a battle of undefeated teams Thursday in Williams Fieldhouse.

Three Pioneers earned winning decisions in the hard-fought dual that saw nine of the 10 matches go the distance. UW-Platteville's Zachary Stenger started the match with an 8-6 win over Nelson Baker at 125. The Eagles won the next four matches before Isaac Brosinski beat Clark Doyle 8-4 at 165 pounds. Two matches later, Grant Wedepohl stopped Alex Friedman 4-2 at 184 pounds. UW-L then closed out the final two matches to account for the 25-9 score.
UW-Platteville is now 4-1 overall and 3-1 against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams. UW-La Crosse improved to 6-0, 2-0.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday at the Matman Invitational at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Action begins at 9 .m.
