Pioneers take third at Clarke Invite
GALENA, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s golf team teed it up for the first time this spring at the Clarke Invite held at the Galena Golf Club. The Pioneers finished third of six teams over the two-day event.

The Pioneers shot 344 on Monday and 352 Tuesday to finish 20 strokes behind second place Aurora University. The University of Dubuque claimed the title with a two-day total of 652.
Markie Ash finished sixth in individual scoring with a two-day total of 163. Ash opened the event with an 82 and shaved one stroke off on day two to lead the Pioneers.
Josie Alm had the team's best first round with 81 strokes, just one above the Pioneer's personal best. Alm was unable to find the same rhythm on day two and finished with an 88 and tied for eighth overall with 169.
Madison Berg shot 94 on Monday and improved to an 89 to finish 18th overall as an individual. Emily Veenhuis (92-94) and Taylor Swalve (89-97) rounded out the five scoring golfers and tied for 19th place overall as individuals.
Three Pioneers also competed as individuals with Emma Cage claiming 22nd overall with rounds of 94 and 97. The remaining two Pioneers showed great improvement on day two. Hannah Tysse followed Monday's 119 with a second round of 110 while Emma Slattery finished with a 105 after shooting 131 on Monday for 28th and t29th place finishes.
The Pioneers will return to action the weekend of April 15 and 16 when they travel to Hastings, Minnesota for Gustavus Adolphus' Gustie Invite.
