Ash named Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete as Pioneers End Season at WIAC Championship
REEDSBURG, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s golf team finished seventh out of eight teams at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship (presented by Culver’s) contested at Reedsburg Country Club. The Pioneers shot a 54-hole team score of 1051 after rounds of 345, 354, and 352.

The Pioneers shot a 54-hole team score of 1051 after rounds of 345, 354, and 352.
Senior Markie Ash ended her sensational fall season with a top ten finish after shooting a three-day total of 245 which placed her ninth overall out of 77 golfers. Ash shot rounds of 79, 83, and 83. Ash was also named the 2022 Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete in addition to being named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Finishing second for the Pioneers was freshman Taylor Swalve after a tournament total of 266 (90-91-85). Rounding out the team's top five was junior Josie Alm shooting 267 (84-91-92), sophomore Jada Chang with a 275 (94-89-92), and senior Emily Veenhuis shooting 277 (92-91-94).
Competing as individuals for the Pioneers were freshman Madison Berg shooting 265 (87-88-90), sophomore Emma Cage shooting 282 (97-89-96), sophomore Nicole Sedam with a 287 (94-99-94), sophomore Madeline Ritter with a 288 (103-98-87), and sophomore Morgan Cooley shooting 305 (96-105-104).
UW-Whitewater and UW- La Crosse finished tied for first overall after 54 holes with a score of 971. After a playoff, UW-Whitewater captured the 2022 WIAC title. Lexi Meade of UW-Eau Claire won the individual title after shooting 233 (79-78-76).
