Pioneers Take First Place at Loras Invite
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s golf team finished first out of nine teams after two days of competition at the Loras College Fall Invite. Round one was played at Woodbine Bend in Stockton, Illinois while the second round was held at The Meadows Golf Club in Asbury, Iowa. The Pioneers shot a 36-hole team score of 702 after rounds of 353 and 349.

This is the first time since 2019 the Pioneers have placed first overall as a team.
Leading the way for the Pioneers and finishing first overall out of 37 golfers was senior Markie Ash. Ash shot 79 in round one to sit in second after the first day. She went low again in round two firing a 81 to capture the wire-to-wire individual title.
Junior Josie Alm finished tied for ninth place after rounds of 91 and 84 for a 36-hole score of 175. This is Alm's highest finish of the season.
Rounding out the Pioneers top five was senior Emily Veenhuis (82,101) with 183 strokes, freshman Taylor Swalve (99,85) with 184 strokes, and sophomore Jada Chang (94,91) with 185 strokes. All five Pioneers finished in the top 25.
The Pioneers also had enough golfers to field a full second team that competed as well. The second team finished with a two-day team score of 725 after rounds of 375 and 350.
Leading the charge for this team was freshman Madison Berg who finished fourth overall with a 36-hole score of 166 (88,78). Also competing was sophomore Emma Cage (92,86) with 178 strokes, sophomore Nicole Sedam (94,92) with 186 strokes, sophomore Madeline Ritter (101,94) with 195 strokes, and sophomore Madelyn Cooley (100,97) with 197 strokes.
The Pioneers tee it up next at the UW-La Crosse Invitational at Cedar Creek Golf Club in Onalaska, Wis. on September 24.
