Pioneers Finish Fifth at UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team finished fifth on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational. The field as well as the Pioneers were limited to just one round due to weather on Friday.
For UW-Platteville, the top finisher was senior Kellsey Welter, who finished tied for fifth after shooting an 83 to lead the Pioneers. Just five strokes back of her was senior teammate Kelsey Lieving, who shot an 88 to share 11th place. The host Warhawks, who are ranked 31st in the nation by GolfStat, cruised to team title honors with a 319. UW-Platteville posted a team total of 368 to secure fifth-place honors.
To round out the UW-Platteville lineup, Taylor Egnarski shot a 97 to share 32nd place honors; plus Stacy Heiling and Katie Gregorich tied for 37th (100) and 53rd (112).
With two weeks before the conference tournament, the Pioneers will next travel to the UW-Stevens Point Invite, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 29.
