Krajco breaks 1,000 career points milestone
Alyssa Krajco became the ninth Pioneer to surpass 1,000 career points on Tuesday in the UW-Platteville women’s basketball team’s 67-57 loss to No. 1 FDU-Florham in the D3hoops.com Classic.
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Alyssa Krajco became the ninth Pioneer to surpass 1,000 career points on Tuesday in the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team's 67-57 loss to No. 1 FDU-Florham in the D3hoops.com Classic.
Krajco scored 15 points for a total of 1,005 career points. Rachel Cropp also netted 15 points, while Stacy Clark recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points.
Cropp paced the Pioneers early with seven points as UW-Platteville took a 12-3 lead. Florham used a 12-3 run to tie it up 15-15 midway through the half. The Pioneers closed out the final four minutes of the half on a 9-0 run, taking a 34-25 lead into the locker room.
The Pioneers held the defending national champion Devils to 24 percent shooting in the first half.
A three-pointer by Keeley Schulz gave UW-Platteville its biggest lead of the game, 39-27, with 17:48 left to play. Florham then went on a 15-5 run to cut the Pioneer lead to two points, 44-42, at the 12:09 mark.
A pair of three-pointers by FDU's Leigh-Ann Lively gave the Devils their first lead of the second half, 48-47, with 8:39 left to play.
The Pioneers managed to tie it up at 49-49, but five-minute scoring drought allowed Florham to take an eight-point lead, 57-49, with just over four minutes left to play.
The top-ranked Devils held off the Pioneers from making another big run to stay unbeaten.
FDU limited UW-Platteville to 25 percent shooting, while making 38 percent of its chances.
The Pioneers return to conference play on Saturday, Jan. 3 at UW-Stout.
