Women's Basketball setback by No. 17 UW-Oshkosh
Junior Stacy Clark tied a career-high with 25 points, but the UW-Platteville women’s basketball team fell to 17th-ranked UW-Oshkosh, 66-52, on Bo Ryan Court on Wednesday evening.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Stacy Clark tied a career-high with 25 points, but the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team fell to 17th-ranked UW-Oshkosh, 66-52, on Bo Ryan Court on Wednesday evening.
Clark netted 10 of the Pioneers' 18 field goals and went 10-of-14 from the field. She also tallied seven rebounds and two steals. Rachel Cropp was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures with 13 points.
The Titans' Katelyn Kuehl led UWO with a double-double as she recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds. Kuehl grabbed six of UWO's 13 offensive rebounds. Taylor Schmidt scored a team-high 14 points.
The first half went and forth for the first 16 minutes, before the Titans used a two-minute 9-0 run, taking a 29-20 advantage with a minute left in the period. Clark converted a three-point play then Cropp drained a half-court shot at the buzz to cut the Pioneers deficit to three, 29-26, at halftime.
A layup by Kuehl at the 13:09 mark gave UWO its first double-digit lead, 42-32. The Pioneers managed to cut the lead back to a single possession after a jumper by Clark, 46-43, with 8:17 to play. The Titans stopped the Pioneers' comeback by scoring seven unanswered, taking a 53-43 advantage with 4:57 to play. The Pioneers couldn't come up with another run and didn't get any closer than 10 points in the final three minutes.
The Pioneers host UW-La Crosse on Saturday with tip off set for 7 p.m.
