Women's Basketball Falls to Undefeated Baruch College

The Pioneers (5-8) struggled shooting 30.9 percent (17-55) with Elizabeth Lawinger tallying a team-high seven points and five rebounds. Claire Poad, Alyssa Krajco and Kim Wellnitz all scored six points each.
The Bearcats recorded three double-digit scores and were led by Taylor Sheridan, who tallied 16 points and 21 rebounds. Iyana Abrams scored 11 points and Francess Henry added 10 points.
Th Pioneers took an early lead, 7-3, at the 13:48 mark, before Baruch went on a 11-2 run, taking a 14-9 lead with just over 10 minutes left in the first-half. The Bearcats increased their lead to 12 points into halftime, 29-17. Baruch outscored the Pioneers 20-6 in the paint and 18-4 off turnovers.
In the second-half, the Pioneers weren't able to get within eight points to the Bearcats. UW-Platteville brought its deficit to eight three times, but weren't able to get over the hump. The Bearcats continued their dominance in the paint in the second-half by outscoring the Pioneers 20-8 in the paint to earn the 52-41 victory.
The Pioneers return to conference play on Thursday when they travel to UW-La Crosse. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
