Eichler Breaks School Record At Augustana Meet Of Champions
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Augustana Meet of Champions on Friday and Saturday from the Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex in Rock Island, Illinois. The Pioneers men’s team placed second with 119 points, while the women finished eighth with 54 points.

Men's Highlights
Senior Justin Eichler shattered his own record in the hammer throw once again, this time posting a mark of 67.32m on his second attempt of the day to win the event. That mark currently ranks first in the NCAA DIII. Eichler was also one of three Pioneers to score in the discus, taking second place with a throw of 49.76m. Sophomore McKade Jelinek came in fourth at 47.49m, while Beau Kopp was seventh at 45.46m.
Two Pioneers scored in the 400m, led by junior Zach Zenner's winning time of 49.31 seconds. Junior Spencer Vanek took third in the same event at 50.47 seconds.
Sophomore Caden Schneider ran a new PR of 9:16.15 in the 3000m steeplechase to win the event.
In the high jump, senior Daniel Inyang tied for second place at 1.94m. Freshman Colin Fosler tied for eighth place at 1.84m.
UW-Platteville's 4x100m relay team of Dylan Miller, Cade VanHout, Carson Gold, and Chance Jampole took second behind a time of 42.39 seconds.
Freshman Cohen Pfohl was the runner-up in the shot put at 14.20m. Sophomore Beau Kopp also scored in the event with an eighth-place finish at 13.61m.
VanHout also ran the 200m at the meet, finishing fifth with a time of 21.92 seconds. Miller competed in the 200m as well and placed eighth at 22.11 seconds.
Freshman Maxwell Sporaa placed sixth in the 5000m with a time of 15:41.57.
Junior Samuel LaPean took fifth in the javelin with a toss of 45.72m. Freshman Trevor Schulz finished sixth in the pole vault at 4.43m.
In the 110m hurdles, freshman Isaiah Martinez advanced to the finals with a time of 15.88 in the qualifying round. He placed eighth in the event with a time of 15.93 in the finals.
Sophomore James Ketterer scored one point for the Pioneers in the triple jump with a ninth-place finish at 13.67m.
Women's Highlights
Senior Jessica Buss ran a time of 1:07.00 in the 400m hurdles to earn runner-up in the event. In the same event, freshman Danielle Mauhar ran a PR of 1:14.20 to finish 10th.
Junior Margaret Rusch placed third in the 400m and scored seven points for the Pioneers with a time of 1:01.46.
Sophomore Mia Schroeder set a new personal best in the javelin on Friday night with a throw of 32.22m which was good for fourth place.
The Pioneers 4x100m relay team of Caitlynn Hahn, Kayla Lipsey, Alexis Healey, and Elianna Dalamangas crossed the line in 49.63 for fourth place in the field of 12 teams. Healey also competed in the long jump, taking seventh at 4.97m.
Junior Brenna Noon took seventh in the hammer throw with a personal-best of 43.50m on her second attempt of the day. In the shot put, sophomore Samantha Klann finished sixth at 11.22m.
The Pioneers had a pair of PRs in the 5000m, with sophomore Paige Guttman (20:22.32) taking seventh and sophomore Angela Meiners (20:29.74) taking eighth.
Sophomore Avery Brown finished ninth in the 3000m steeplechase on Saturday, running a personal-best time of 12:25.38 to score one point for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will send some athletes to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa next Friday and Saturday while others will compete at the Drake Alternative hosted by UW-Whitewater on Friday.
