Pioneers Compete At Mississippi River Rumble Saturday
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Mississippi River Rumble hosted by the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers men’s team placed third out of seven teams with 160.5 points, while the women were fourth at 119 points.

Men's Highlights
Senior Cade VanHout won the 100m dash behind a time of 10.54 seconds. He finished second in the prelims at 10.77 seconds before winning the event in the finals by 0.06 seconds. VanHout also won the 200m with a time of 21.86 seconds.
UW-Platteville recorded six of the eight scorers in the 3000m, with freshman Zachary Sporaa winning the event at 8:46.42. Senior Troy Humpal was second at 8:52.69, while junior Riley Coulter (8:54.14) and Isaiah Kruckman (8:58.23) were third and fourth. Freshman Maxwell Sporaa (9:12.56) took sixth, while sophomore Christopher Wier (9:19.43) finished seventh.
Senior Justin Eichler won a pair of events at the meet. He tossed a mark of 62.96m in the hammer throw to win the event by over six meters before winning the discus with a personal-best of 54.18m on his final throw of the day. Sophomore McKade Jelinek also scored in the discus with a third-place finish at 49.45m.
Sophomore James Ketterer placed second in both the 400m at 50.06 seconds and triple jump at 13.84m. Senior Caleb Christiansen took third in the 1500m run behind a time of 4:03.19.
Senior Daniel Inyang was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.89m. Freshman teammate Colin Fosler placed fifth in the event at 1.84m.
Freshman Ryan Owens crossed the line third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.04.
Freshman Isaiah Martinez took fifth in the 110m hurdles and scored six points for the Pioneers with a time of 15.80 seconds.
Three Pioneers scored in the 800m, led by junior Zach Zenner's fifth-place finish at 1:55.90. Sophomore Paul Treiber took sixth at 1:58.68, while Alex Geissler finished eighth at 1:59.83.
In the javelin, junior Samuel LaPean (45.86) and freshman Parker Douglas (45.62m) took sixth and seventh, respectively.
Freshman Devon Dorn came in fifth in the long jump at 6.52m.
Freshman Cohen Pfohl tallied four points for the Pioneers in the shot put with his eighth-place finish at 14.55m.
Women's Highlights
The Pioneers 4x100m relay team of junior Caitlynn Hahn, senior Kayla Lipsey, senior Alexis Healey, and freshman Elianna Dalamangas narrowly missed winning the event with a time of 48.89 seconds. The quartet was just 0.01 behind Dubuque's team in the event.
UW-Platteville claimed the top two spots in the 400m, led by junior Margaret Rusch's winning time of 1:00.11. Junior Lindsey Barnes claimed the second spot at 1:03.74.
Senior Jessica Buss won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.87. Freshman Danielle Mauhar took fifth in the same event at 1:15.09.
In the 3000m run, senior Natalie Kreier came in first with a time of 10:47.06. Her time was over 30 seconds faster than the next closest finisher at the meet.
Freshman Hailey Campbell won the long jump with a leap of 5.36m, which came on her third attempt of the day. Healey also scored in the event with a mark of 5.16m which placed her fifth. In the triple jump, junior Lizzie Andrews (10.21m) and sophomore Malina Koepp (9.88m) came in third and fourth, respectively.
Sophomore Leah Digmann scored six points in the 800m run with a third-place time of 2:25.31. Freshman Ava Garrard also scored in the event at 2:33.25, which was good for fifth.
Dalamangas scored in two more events for the Pioneers on the day, finishing runner-up in the 200m at 26.31 seconds and fifth in the 100m at 12.80 seconds.
Junior Brenna Noon competed in the shot put and placed third overall with a toss of 13.47m.
Three Pioneers scored in the javelin, led by senior Mia Schroeder's fifth-place finish at 28.08m. Freshman Mary Lyons took sixth at 26.60m, while sophomore Zoe Cutler was eighth at 22.55m.
Sophomore Avery Brown competed in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing fourth with a time of 12:55.57.

The Pioneers will host the UW-Platteville Invitational next Friday and Saturday. Events on Friday are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with Saturday slated to begin at 11 a.m.
