Sophomore Will Lawrence owns the top mark in the javelin across DIII with his throw of 69.85m (229' 2") at the Drake Relays on April 26 over half a meter ahead of the second-place mark. The sophomore holds the UW-Platteville school record in the event and returns to the championships after a runner-up finish a year ago.
Three Pioneers will compete in the men's discus, with each mark ranking inside the top eight in the event. Senior Justin Eichler paces the group at 53.60m (175' 10") for fourth overall, while senior Ben Veverka is one spot behind at 53.50m (175' 6"). Freshman McKade Jelinek sits in eighth with his throw of 53.19m (174' 6") at the Good Friday Open on April 7 representing his season best.
Eichler will also compete in the hammer at the championships after his school record throw of 62.58m (205' 4") at the conference meet in early May has him second on the national list. He will throw the hammer for the third straight year at the national meet and placed fifth last spring.
Junior Daniel Inyang heads to his first NCAA Championships after solidifying his place at the UW-La Crosse Qualifier last Thursday with a personal-best high jump of 2.03m (6' 7.75"). He is currently 20th overall in the event.
Sophomore Brenna Noon qualified for the women's shot put behind a throw of 14.07m (46' 2") at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 14, which ranks 11th on the year. Noon heads to the outdoor championships for the second consecutive year after taking seventh in the shot put last year.
