UW-Platteville track and field recognizes seniors
Platteville, Wis. – On Saturday, February 15 the University of Wisconsin – Platteville track and field team honored its seniors at the UW-Platteville Invitational. Little did the Pioneers know how unique of a treasured celebration that day would be. In light of the track and field season coming to an abrupt, early end, we will continue to highlight the senior class throughout the spring semester. In this week’s edition, we honor cross country and track and field athletes Noah Steiner, Cole Eastlick, Drew Stanioch, and Jordan Monroe.
In this week's edition, we honor cross country and track and field athletes Noah Steiner, Cole Eastlick, Drew Stanioch, and Jordan Monroe.
Noah Steiner
It did not take long for Coach Spider, to learn that Steiner was capable of great things in the high jump. Appropriately, Steiner's team nickname soon became "Tall" and it stuck. Steiner, a senior from Monticello, Iowa, achieved a lifetime best clearance of 2.10m (6-10.75) and holds the indoor and outdoor school records in the high jump. To summarize what Steiner has done in the past three years is nothing short of incredible. Steiner has won three WIAC Championship titles in the high jump and has placed second twice. He has qualified to five NCAA DIII National Championships, becoming an All-American in 2019 when he placed third at the indoor and outdoor national championships. Some of Steiner's favorite track and field memories come from exploring the campuses, cities, and hotels at these away meets. Steiner will be graduating with a degree in industrial technology management and a minor in drafting and product development.
Cole Eastlick
Eastlick is an electrical engineering major from Arena, Wisconsin. He will be graduating this spring with four years of Pioneer track and field experience in the throwing events. One of his favorite track and field memories dates back to his freshman year when a spaghetti dinner was hosted at Devan Montgomery's house. Eastlick qualified to five WIAC Championships, most recently competing in the 2020 WIAC Indoor Championships in the shot put and weight throw. Eastlick took 13th in the shot put and 11th in the weight throw, his best place finishes at an indoor conference championship. Eastlick competed at the Pointer Final Qualifier to finish the 2020 indoor season, throwing a lifetime best throw in the shot put of 15.72m (51-7). Soon after graduation, Eastlick will begin work at Cardinal Glass CG in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
Drew Stanioch
Majoring in civil engineering, Stanioch came to UW-Platteville from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a four year member of the Pioneer track and field team, Stanioch specialized in the long and triple jump. He achieved his lifetime best long jump at the Augustana Meet of Champions in 2019, jumping 6.30m (20-8). Many of Stanioch's favorite track and field memories come from the 18-hour relay the track and field team took part in his freshman year, hanging out with his teammates, grilling out at the outdoor track, and enjoying each other's company.
Jordan Monroe
Originally from Burlington, Wisconsin, Monroe arrived at UW-Platteville to study industrial technology management and minor in controls. Monroe's favorite memories from track and field come from the indoor and outdoor conference championships in 2019. He competed at both WIAC championship meets in his signature event, the pole vault. It was during the 2019 WIAC Indoor Championships when Monroe cleared his lifetime best height of 4.22m (13-10).
The seniors invested in themselves by attending the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Student-athletes with such determination and passion to succeed have a rich impact on a team. It's hard to predict the impact a college experience can have; it's even harder to communicate in words that same impact in the aftermath. Noah, Cole, Drew, Jordan, you are through and through Pioneers. With much gratitude, we send you off and welcome you into the elite club of Pioneer Alumni.
