Seven Pioneers Recognized with All-Region Honors
New Orleans, LA – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced All-Region honors for the 2018 NCAA Division III indoor track and field season. To be recognized in the All-Region honors, student-athletes rank in the top-5 individuals in their respective event from each region. In total, 772 men's All-Region honors and 781 women's All-Region honors were presented to student-athletes. In the Midwest Region, seven Pioneer track and field student-athletes were recognized with this honor.
For the women's Midwest Region All-Region honorees, sophomore Rachel Beuthin became All-Region in the shot put. Beuthin's throw of 13.84m (45-5) at Grand Valley State University Bob Eubanks Open placed her at No. 3 in the Midwest Region.
Junior Brittany Ehlen received All-Region honors in the pole vault. After consistently improving on her school record performances, Ehlen's personal best mark of 3.73m (12-2.75) placed her tied for No. 4 in the Midwest Region.
Five Pioneer men received All-Region honors. Sophomore Charlie Gifford's performance in the 60m hurdles at the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships placed him at No. 5 in the Midwest Region. Gifford finished the finals of the 60m hurdles in 8.29 seconds, establishing a new personal best.
High jumping his way into No. 2 in the Midwest Region, sophomore Noah Steiner cleared 2.08m (6-9.75) at the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Steiner established not only a personal best that day, but also tied the school record.
Receiving All-Region honors in the 200m dash as well as the long jump, freshman Rodrick McMiller ran and jumped personal bests at the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. McMiller ran 22.23 seconds in the 200m dash, securing No. 5 in the Midwest Region. In the long jump event, McMiller holds the No. 1 spot in the region with a mark of 7.27m (23-10.25).
Junior Cody Faust became All-Region in the heptathlon. Faust competed at the Wartburg Qualifier and established a personal best and school record. Among the seven events, Faust competed in the 60m dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60m hurdles, pole vault, and 1000m run. He had season best times or marks in six of the seven events over the two days of competition. Faust's point total of 4926 placed him No. 4 in the Midwest Region.
In the 3,000m run, senior Walker Rynes earned All-Region honors. At the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Rynes ran a time of 8:30.16 which places him at No. 5 in the Midwest Region. Rynes narrowly missed an All-Region honor in the 5,000m run, coming in at No. 6 with his national qualifying time of 14:31.59.
