Pioneers earn two titles in first day of WIAC Championships
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams crowned WIAC champions in the javelin throw for both genders as Emily Kjos and Dan Poh won the event for the Pioneers.

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams crowned WIAC champions in the javelin throw for both genders as Emily Kjos and Dan Poh won the event for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers as also position themselves very well in preliminaries of events to be completed later this weekend.
Women's Results
Kjos dominated the javelin throw, winning the event with a 135-05 throw. She out-threw the second-place competitor by more than five feet.
Amber Williams got second place in the long jump with a 18-feet-9-inch leap.
In the 4x800-meter relay, the team of Lynea Axelson, Allison Wells, Ashlynne Wampfler and Chelsea Delzer took sixth with a time of 9:48.25. Axelson also took eighth place in the 800-meter run preliminaries.
Men's Results
Poh won the javelin with a throw of 192-10, and T.J. Valley finished third with a toss of 181-08. Garrett Riggs placed eighth (165-02) in the event as well.
Ian LaMere finished second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:21.38, and Matt Smaga took tenth (32:18.35).
In the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles, Austin Lloyd (14.95 seconds), Valley (14.82) and Patrick Kessenich (14.96) took second, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The relay team of Michael Peterson, Adam Lange, Joel Walden and Jason Henkins finished fourth in the 4x800-meter relay. The squad finished in 7:48.68.
