Men place fourth at Augustana
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s track and field team took fourth out of nine teams Friday at the Augustana Invitational.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's track and field team took fourth out of nine teams Friday at the Augustana Invitational.
Caleb Mertens placed third in the 200-meter dash in 22.25 seconds, and finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29 seconds.
In the 800-meter run, Jason Henkins finished sixth (1:56.02) and Michael Peterson placed eighth (1:57.14).
Matt Smaga's time of 31:11.05 was good for third in the 10,000-meter run. Dan LaCroix finished ninth (31:38.24).
T.J. Valley finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27.
Patrick Kessenich took second in the 400-meter hurdles, finished in 54.06 seconds.
In the 4x100-meter relay, the Pioneers had three teams place in the top 10, taking second was the team of Mitchell Dowell, Mertens, Brandon Navin and Valley. The team of Logan Hansen, Andrew McCarthy, Alex Niehaus and Trevor Whitehead placed eighth, and the squad of Tim Laursen, Adam Lange, Cody Rudie and Brad Jurewicz placed ninth.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Laursen, Jurewicz, Greg Stribling and Kessenich finished seventh in 3:22.64, while 4x800-meter relay squad of Peterson, Ben Rhode, Jacob Johnson and Matt Wubben placed second (8:18.41).
Ace McCarty took seventh in the high jump with a 1.86-meter clearance (6-01.25).
Matthew Dwyer won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.79 meters (15-08.50).
Matt Brenemihl placed first in the triple jump (13.78 meters / 45-02.50), while Darrell Simms placed fifth (13.21 meters / 43-04.25).
Kyle Whaley and Jon Petrie took third (51-02.25) and fourth (51-00.75), respectively.
Daniel Poh (181-11) and Valley (174-11) took second and third, respectively in the javelin, while Jurewicz (156-00) placed sixth and Evan Buck (153-03) finished 10th.
