Women take 5th at Augustana Invite
The UW-Platteville women’s track team earned a fifth-place finish at the Augustana Invitational Thursday night.

Rock Island, Ill. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's track team earned a fifth-place finish at the Augustana Invitational Thursday night.
Amber Williams took first in long jump 5.68 meters (18-07.75) and Jessica Jentz finished ninth in the event with a 4.89-meter effort (16-00.50).
Emily Kjos finished first in javelin at 39.49 meters (129-07), Krysta Parson took sixth with a 31.48-meter throw (103-03), and Caitlin Thomson took ninth at 30.52 meters (100-01).
The Pioneers continued their dominance in the high jump, Amber Williams took second with a 1.66 meter effort (5-05.25), Thomson took third with a 1.61-meter jump (5-03.25) and Cassandra Thorngren finished fifth with a 1.51-meter bound (4-11.50).
Williams also finished ninth in the 200-meter dash in 26.88 seconds, and Thomson took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.51 seconds.
Lynea Axelson placed third in the 800-meter dash in 2:16.54, while Chelsea Delzer took ninth in 2:26.55.
Jentz triple jumped 10.53 meters (34-06.75) to take fourth.
Tess Burns, Reed, Axelson, Delzer finished fourth (4:07.04) in 4x400-meter relay.
In the 4x100-meter relay, Parson, Kelsey Reed, Jentz and Williams placed fifth in 50.96 seconds.
Caitlin Hare took fifth in the pole vault with a 3.06-meter clearance (10-00.50).
Reed also finished sixth in 400-meter dash at 1:01.77.
Parson placed ninth in the 100-meter dash (13.17), and Allison Wells took ninth in 1,500-meter run in 4:58.15.
The Pioneer men will compete at Augustana tomorrow to conclude the meet.
