Pioneer teams take third, fourth at Wartburg Select
The Pioneer men placed third and the women took fourth at the Wartburg Select Saturday, continuing their hot starts to the outdoor track and field season.

The Pioneer men placed third and the women took fourth at the Wartburg Select Saturday, continuing their hot starts to the outdoor track and field season.
Men's Results
Austin Lloyd (14.97) and Patrick Kessenich (15.10) took first and second, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles. Kessenich also took second in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 56.01 seconds.
Sam Poser took third in the 5,000-meter run (15:28.95), and the squad of Mitchell Dowell, Caleb Mertens, Brandon Navin and Trevor Whitehead took third in the 4x100-meter relay in 42.96 seconds.
Mertens was busy Saturday, as he also took fourth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.17 seconds and 22.70 seconds, respectively.
The Pioneers were well represented in the pole vault, as Matthew Dwyer and Jared Bradfish (15-01.00) tied for third, while Garrett Riggs and Marshall Trajkovski (14-07.25) tied for fifth.
Dwyer also took third in the long jump with a leap of 21-11.50.
In the triple jump, Darrell Simms placed fourth with a jump of 43-05.75.
Kyle Whaley finished second (50-8.00) in the shot put and third (138-01) in the discus. Jon Petrie finished fourth (47-07.75) in the shot as well.
In the javelin, Dan Poh took second (171-09) and T.J. Valley finished sixth (163-07).
Women's Results
Amber Williams dominated in her field events Saturday, winning the long jump (17-03.25) and finishing third in the triple jump (35-07.75). She also took fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.89 seconds.
Alyssa Iserman and Caitlin Thomson continued their excellence from the indoor season in the high jump, as Iserman (5-06) won the event, and Thomson (5-05) tied for second. Stephanie Wyss and Mary-Katherine Kladar (5-00.50) both tied for fifth in the event as well.
Wyss was also able to take sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 16.34 seconds.
Emily Kjos, who is looking to repeat her national-qualifying performances of a year ago, took second in the javelin with a throw of 119-01.
Kiera Depies placed fourth in the 500-meter run (5:01.74).
The 4x100-meter relay team of Carly Willman, Megan Rouer, Jessica Jentz and Krysta Parson finished fifth with a time of 51.81 seconds. Jentz also took third in the long jump (16-05.25).
Lynea Axelson took sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:01.06), and Chelsea Delzer also took sixth in the 800-meter run (2:25.91)
Wyss was able to take sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 16.34 seconds.
Axelson, Delzer, Parson and Kelsey Reed composed the 4x400-meter relay that finished sixth (4:10.43).
Mariah Hargrafen gave the Pioneers team points in the hammer throw, finished sixth with a throw of 131 feet, 8 inches.
The Pioneers return to action next Saturday with their annual UW-Platteville Invitational.
