LINCOLN, Neb. – The Pioneer indoor track and field teams got three more All-American efforts at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to conclude the 2014 indoor season.
Amber Williams, a freshman from Milwaukee, Wis., netted her second All-American award on the weekend, as she placed seventh in the women's triple jump. Williams' 11.56-meter jump (37-11.25) was her third-best performance of the season. Williams becomes the first Pioneer woman to win multiple Indoor All-Americans in one season since Marcia Taddy in 2007.
T.J. Valley, a senior from Prairie du Chien, Wis., picked up his third career All-American honors in the 60-meter hurdles. Valley took seventh in the event with a 8.17-second performance. Valley is the first Pioneer men's track and field athlete to be an All-American in three consecutive seasons since Patrick Klein in 2010-2012.
Caitlin Thomson, a junior from Whitehall, Wis., earned All-American honors in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.65 meters (5-05.00), good for eighth in the event. This was Thomson's first career All-American. Sophomore Hazel Green, Wis., native Alyssa Iserman also had a 1.65-meter clearance, but missed being an All-American because she took one more attempt to clear the bar.
Ian LaMere, who earned All-American status last night in the 5,000-meter race, took 13th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:27.92.
The Pioneer men's and women's teams will take a week off before beginning the outdoor season at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.
