Bradfish, Wyss set school records Friday

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Jared Bradfish and Stephanie Wyss broke school records in the pole vault and the pentathlon, respectively, on Friday.
Bradfish, a senior from Schofield, Wis., broke Chas Spangenberg's pole vault record (16 feet, two inches, set in 2012) with a jump of 16 feet, three inches at the Jack Jennett Invitational at University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Wyss, a senior from Monroe, Wis., posted a score of 2,979 in the pentathlon, breaking Jen Hawk's 16-year-old school record of 2,970, at the Wartburg Select in Waverly, Iowa.
At the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational, hosted by UW-Whitewater, sophomore Ian LaMere won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:52.25. Junior Matt Smaga also scored in the event, placing seventh (15:23.31).
Saturday marks a busy day for both Pioneer track and field teams, as members of each team will be competing at two separate meets. Full recaps will be posted later today.
