Men take first, women second at UW-Platteville Triangular
The Pioneer men’s track and field team won first and the women’s team took second against conference foes UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point at the UW-Platteville Triangular Saturday.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Pioneer men's track and field team won first and the women's team took second against conference foes UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point at the UW-Platteville Triangular Saturday.
Four Pioneers from the women's team took home firsts in her event and five men took the top spot in his event.
Women's Results
In the 200-meter dash, Amber Williams finished second (26.9 seconds) and Krysta Parson took third (27.41). Williams also finished first in the triple jump with a bound of 11.19 meters.
In the women's 800-meter run, Lynea Axelson took second place at 2:20.67, just half a second off the winner's tme.
In the 3,000-meter run, Kiera Depies (10:45.64) and Chelsey Heiden (10:49.94) took second and third, respectively.
Stephanie Wyss bounded her way to a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdle run (9.59 seconds)
The team of Carly Willman, Megan Rouer, Jessica Jentz and Kelsey Reed took first in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:50.46.
In the 4x400-relay, two Pioneers teams placed in the top three, as the grouping of Mary-Katherine Kladar, Chelsea Delzer, Wyss and Axelson took second (4:09.45) and the team of Tess Burns, Williams, Reed and Parson took third (4:10.91).
The Pioneers swept the top five in the high jump, with Caitlin Thomson grabbing first with a leap of 1.65 meters. Kladar finished second at 1.6 meters, followed by Alyssa Iserman at 1.6 meters on her second attempt. Wyss took fourth with a jump of 1.55 meters and Cassandra Thorngren took fifth at 1.5 meters.
In the long jump, Emily Kjos earned second with a bound of 5.1 meters.
Along with her relay duties, Jentz also took third in the triple jump at 10.14 meters.
Men's Results
In the 60-meter dash, Caleb Mertens (7.09 seconds) and Mitchell Dowell (7.15) took first and second, respectively, and Brandon Navin took fifth at 7.29 seconds.
Dowell took second in the 200-meter dash a 22.95, followed closely by Navin at 23.10.
Adam Lange won first in the 800-meter run with time of 1:58.06, while Cody Rudie took a fifth-place finish at 2:00.66.
In the 3,000-meter run, Ian LaMere (8:41.25), Joel Walden (8:50.64) and Matt Smaga (8:51.19) took second, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Pioneers swept the top three of the 60-meter hurdles, led by TJ Valley at 8.33 seconds, followed by Patrick Kessenich (8.46) and Austin Lloyd (8.55).
The team of Tim Laursen, Brad Jurewicz, Kessenich and Darren Hudziak took first in 4x400-relay with a time of 3:25.97.
In the high jump, Ace McCarty earned second place with a leap of 1.85 meters.
UW-Platteville had four of the top five finishers in the pole vault as Garrett Riggs (4.49 meters) and Jared Bradfish (J4.49 meters) won first and second, respectively, and Marshall Trajkovski and Kurt Druffell took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Riggs also placed fourth in the long jump with a bound of 6.01 meters.
In the shot put, Kyle Whaley placed third (15.06 meters) and Jon Petrie (14.44) placed fifth.
Christopher Rusthoven earned third in the weight throw with a toss of 13.49 meters and Wyatt Scheck placed fifth with a throw of 13.46.
